About

If you’re into Tarot, spiritual growth, personal development, dream interpretation, meditation, and exploring all things unexplained, you’ve come to the right place!
Perhaps, however, I should introduce myself. First I’ll tell you a bit about this blog – what it’s about and why it’s here – and then about the freak who writes this stuff.
What Is This Blog About?
This blog is a story of
- A skeptic’s adventures in the world of things that were supposed to be hoo-hah but that apparently seem to work anyway: Tarot, telepathy, empathic psychic abilities, energy healing, chi, shamanic journeys, meeting cool new spirit guides, making weird experiments with pendulums… you get the idea.
- A computer geek’s favorite hobby, or passion: collecting, reading and learning Tarot cards. And, of course, sharing what I’ve learned!
- An ex-fundamentalist’s spiritual journey from the chains of fear-based religion into the freedom of love-based spirituality… whatever that might be.
- A lazy bum’s lessons learned about personal development: how to cultivate courage, become more productive, learn self-discipline, assume responsibility, take charge of your life, and so on.
- And, um, anything else that strikes my fancy, I suppose. Look, this blog is a very eclectic collection of a random skeptical pagan Tarot reader’s musings, ok?
There’s one thing I know for sure about LightSideOf.com, though: this blog is totally, utterly unprofessional, very personal, politically not correct, and often a bit tongue-in-cheek… just like its author! Life is serious business, so don’t take it too seriously!
Why This Blog? My Philosophy
I write this stuff because I love sharing information and experiences about the fascinating things I’ve learned on my spiritual journey, as well as the obstacles I’ve stumbled upon. I do hope these writings will help and inspire you on your personal journey, too.
Despite my relatively young age, I’ve been through quite a bit in my life so far. I grew up in a loving but troubled family, was raised in a fundamentalist Christian religion and have gone through the pains of losing my religion and having to completely change my world view, I’ve been (mostly) happily married for over 6 years, I’m cultivating my psychic abilities, I’ve witnessed mental illness, depression, alcoholism and financial troubles.
I’m not here to whine, though. I’m here to do the exact opposite! I’m here to tell you how I’ve turned obstacles into stepping stones, how I’ve turned my experiences – both good and bad – into valuable life lessons, how I enjoy and appreciate the small everyday things in my life, how I’ve cultivated love and understanding, how I’ve attracted joyful experiences into my life, and how I constantly keep questioning and learning.
The thing that makes me different from many other people I know is my ability to focus on the positive. As long as my basic needs are met (a working computer and internet connection are basic needs!) I don’t need stuff to make me happy. Happiness comes from within. There is so much beauty in this world, you just have to open your eyes and notice it!
Who is Yours Truly?
I’m a wife, 26 at age, forever young at heart (that’s why I call myself a girl instead of a woman), Tarot reader and collector, web geek, qualified lab tech, lifelong learner, engineering student, a bit of a hippie, food aficionado, quote junkie, and God knows what else. My interests are wide and varied… and they often contradict each other!
If you’re into the MBTI personality typing system, letters INTP probably tell you a lot about me. Then again, I’m also a Pisces, so it sort of balances things out. Also, just the fact I mentioned these two things should give you another hint of my interests.
I’m married to a wholly exceptional guy who is also a former fundamentalist Christian, reads Tarot, is interested in all things spiritual, has some weird visions, and suffers from a total Jesus-complex. Maybe, some day, he’ll share his insights and write some guest posts here… if I keep pestering him for long enough about it.
